Dazed And Confused Paxon Hollow Middle School Updat

Dazed And Confused
Been Dazed and Confused for so long it's not true.

On Friday, three days after I emailed my daughter's teacher as to why she wasn't allowing students to ask questions her teacher called me.  Unfortunately, I was in a meeting and unable to answer the call and she left me a quick message.

The call was quick and rambling but the gist of it was that I was right (we already knew that) but that she does allow for questions and answers.  She also said she spoke to Fran (I hate that, her name is Francesca) and told her she could come to ask questions.   This is the message:

Mr. Boukouris,  Hi, I want to clarify a few things and I did speak to Fran this morning and um I totally agree and hopefully this is just a misunderstanding, um there are times when I agree I spend most of my day in a large part with question and answer but learning also involves listening and we work in groups sometimes and have to kind of depend on our groups and then generate questions and then learn form the other groups and if there's still questions um I think we get involved in things like that so I told her to make sure she sees me if she has a problem.  If you would like to call me at your convenience I'd be happy to call you back hopefully this clears it up and I do  health class available Tuesday afternoons  and in the morning but, ah thank you very much.  Bye bye.

As you can see nothing was really clarified in fact her whole message was a weird circular excuse.  I got totally lost at the end of the message and trust me I don't want to ask for a clarification to her clarification.  I am not 100% sure but I think she wants me to attend health class on Tuesday afternoons or in the morning because there is an availability????  Anyway this whole message has me scratching my head and quite honestly I don't think I will call her just yet.  I will wait to see how Fran, I mean Francesca makes out.

  1. I want to know how this turns out!

At first, I thought that this story would illustrate yet another case of flaming liberalism in our public schools, with blatant and anarchistic attempts at indoctrination. But now it appears that it may simply be an example of a watered-down system of higher education in which less-than-qualified individuals are pushed through at any cost, and subsequently are chosen as--yes, you guessed it--TEACHERS. Not just any teachers, but YOUR and MY KIDS' TEACHERS!!

Vanessa had an Econ teacher last semester who was as red as they come. She actually showed (and I blame the school district for allowing this as much as the individual idiot teacher) movies ranging from Michael Moore's cinematic masterpieces, Algore's "An Inconvenient Truth", and an anti-Wal-Mart "documentary". No counter-point, no balance, no opposing points-of-view. Of course not. And students who registered conservative stances were discouraged in every way possible. Oh, and did I mention the obligatory pro-Obama, anti-George W. Bush position at nearly every turn?

Vanessa is a fairly typical young person with some liberal-leanings, most of which originate from the "plight" of being a teenager and not being "free" (yet), and also most of which pertain to social issues. But I'm proud to say that she is capable of assessing both every-day situations as well as political and global goings-on, and actually tends to lean to the right. She discussed, at several junctures, what the teacher was presenting, and told me she felt it was wrong, and that she was offended. She said she didn't mind being exposed to any particular types of material, but that it doesn't take a genius to figure out that there are other sides to every issue. (I believe she does not yet realize that she is ahead of most of her contemporaries in her ability to grasp and understand). I contemplated getting involved. However I feared that I would be going up against a giant left-wing machine, since the school district HAD to be aware of the curriculum. And I did not want Vanessa's grade to be adversely affected. Ultimately, I discussed the situation as a whole with Vanessa, pointing out that the educational establishment has been that way for decades, and why. She understood, and I took solace in the fact that she did. Her "getting it" was my reward, and also my proof that I did not need to intervene.

What I regret is that many of Vanessa's fellow students DO NOT yet have the ability to understand that they are being indoctrinated!!! And by the time they theoretically are old and smart enough to get it, it's too late. The indoctrination has already occurred. That's the whole point!! Conservatives need to get involved! I think I would like to get into local politics in the not-too-distant future...after Vanessa graduates from H.S. in a few short months, but well before Clay is in school. The liberal/"progressive"/socialist/communist machine must be reversed!

Hey! Maybe I could be a guest commentator on your blog!
